Our story

1990

Janet Evert, an SDA mother and youth leader, began creating Bible lessons and stories to meet the need for deeper study materials for young people.

1992

Young Disciple Magazine was professionally produced and quickly gained recognition among youth, parents, and church leaders worldwide.

1993

Young Disciple Youth Bible Camp launched, offering kids a week to grow spiritually, build friendships, learn new skills, and share their faith.

2001

Camp expanded to include annual mission trips to the Philippines, where teens lead evangelistic efforts and grow by sharing the gospel.

2025

Young Disciple continues to inspire youth worldwide through its magazine, church resources, camp programs, and mission trips.

Our mission

We are a ministry conducted by Seventh-day Adventist Christians with a mission to connect kids with Christ.

• To encourage them in their spiritual walk.
• To give them tools and methods to study the Word for themselves.
• To help them grow in the Lord.
• To encourage them to share their faith.
• To see them in the Kingdom.

A proud member of ASI, Young Disciple Ministries maintains strong relationships with local churches and conferences. Our materials, including Young Disciple Magazine, are available through several Adventist Book Centers, and have been featured on 3ABN. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we remain committed to equipping and inspiring the next generation to walk closely with Christ.

Areas of ministry

Young Disciple magazine, the ministry’s flagship publication, has been in continual circulation since 1992. Click here for guidelines for authors and illustrators.

Youth camps

Since 1993, Young Disciple Youth Bible Camps have provided an opportunity for young people to grow spiritually, learn new skills, meet new friends, and discover the joy of sharing their faith.

Overseas mission trips

Young people sharing their faith—that’s what the Mission Experience is all about! Through preaching, teaching, music, and more, teens are empowered to step out boldly for Christ. Browse photo albums or learn how to join an upcoming trip here.

Bible memory

Hiding God’s Word in our hearts strengthens the mind, revives the soul, and helps us resist Satan. YD’s Bible Memory Bookmarks use the effective initial-letter method, while His Song In My Heart offers Scripture songs to aid memorization through music. Both are perfect for family worship, Sabbath School, or youth groups.

Sermon notes

Kids and teens can enjoy church and discover the blessings in every sermon!
YD offers Sermon Notes packs for pre-readers through earliteens. Each set includes 13 full-color, ready-to-use notes in six fun designs. Learn more here.

Youth training

Over the years, YD has trained many high school and college-age young people as writers, designers, photographers, and editors. Email us for information about staff openings and internship possibilities.
